Parenting Help / Special Needs Children
I respect parents who are challenged in parenting their children in the often bewildering world of social media and technology. I enjoy helping parents better understand the world their children inhabit and to learn ways to connect with them.
I have a special respect for parents who have taken on the challenge of adopting special needs children who often struggle with trusting their caregivers. I have significant training and experience in helping these families better understand and respond to the challenging behaviors with which these children often present. I work closely with adoptive parents and their children together to help facilitate the child’s development of a secure attachment with them.
EMDR in Therapy
I am pleased to offer individuals the ability to effectively address their anxieties, phobias, trauma, and chronic pain with the specialized technique of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization, Reprocessing). EMDR is a powerful, research supported technique which has been shown to be highly effective in reducing or eliminating the symptoms of PTSD, disturbing childhood memories of abuse and neglect, anxiety, phobias, panic attacks, grief and loss, stress and troubling memories.
EMDR is also very effective in enhancing performance in the areas of job performance, assertiveness, test taking, public speaking, teaching, sports and more. Please be sure to read my article that describes this powerful technique and how it works.
